ABRASION
Abrasion-resistance
Glazed floor tiles = test standart ISO 10546-7: testing by means of a rotating wear medium (so called "PEI" test). Classification in groups (1-5) according to usage frequency (from low to very high), abrasive soiling and footwear. An example of group 1 are private sanitary facilities, and entrance lobbies in hotels for group 5.
Unglazed floor tiles = test standart ISO 10545-6: the abrsaion is determined in mm by means of wear medium and grinding wheel (material removal and volume loss). The test is considered passed if the abrasion is below a defined value (differs depending on the type of tile). Consequently, the standart does not differentiate between individual groups. Unglazed "through-dyed" ceramic tiles are once again unsurpassed and predestined for areas with an extremely high level of public traffic, e.g. traffic structures, supermarkets, shopping arcades, counter rooms and ticket offices etc.
